Benefits of Listening to Sreemad Bhagavatam

The mantras of the Vedas are intrinsically linked to their meanings through vibrations in energy. They attune the listener’s soul to divine consciousness. Sreemad Bhagavatam embodies the essence of the Vedas and Upanishads and is considered the sound form of Lord Krishna (Vangmayi Murti), as described in the Bhagavata Mahatmyam from the Padma Purana. Regular chanting of the Bhagavatam is believed to prevent the negative effects of Kali Yuga from entering a home.
The shlokas of the Bhagavatam are revered as mantras with the power to transform consciousness and neutralize negative karmas (papas). Listening to the chanting of Sreemad Bhagavatam awakens divine presence within, fills homes with sacred vibrations, and enhances spiritual elevation. This audio can be used for nithya parayana (daily spiritual recitation), meditative listening, and even during travel.

About Arshanadam

Arshanadam (pronounced Aarsha Naadham) represents the divine wisdom embedded in mystical chants handed down by the Vedic rishis (seers) of ancient times. Our mission is to offer these sacred Vedic mantras and traditional shlokas with utmost authenticity, rendered by qualified Vedic priests who strictly adhere to traditional chanting techniques. At Arshanadam, we focus on two main categories of chants: Vedic Mantras and Shlokas.

Vedic Mantras

The Vedic mantras are considered to be of divine origin, known as ‘sruti’, which means “that which is heard.” These mantras were revealed to us by the rishis in their precise sound structure, preserved through oral transmission within a sophisticated educational system that integrates social, cultural, religious, and spiritual dimensions of the Vedic way of life. The mere act of listening to these mantras has a profound transformative effect on the listener’s psyche. At Arshanadam, the Vedic chants are rendered exclusively by top-level experts (ganapaati), ensuring the purity and potency of these sacred sounds.

Shlokas

Unlike the Vedic mantras, shlokas are composed by great sages and masters under divine inspiration and reflect the wisdom of the Vedic mantras. Found in the smritis and puranas, shlokas include revered texts such as the Bhagavad-Gita and Sreemad Bhagavatam. These shlokas are traditionally rendered in various musical styles, chosen from styles that maintain cultural continuity. Our approach ensures that the shlokas are presented in a way that honors their traditional essence.

The Music

Vedic mantras have strict chanting rules based on Swaras (intonations), while shlokas allow more musical flexibility. Despite this flexibility, Brahmasri Narayana Moorthi, Gurupuram(Rigveda Salakshana Ganapadi at Sri Kanchi Sankara Math) adheres to traditional chanting methods to preserve the cultural purity and integrity of the Bhagavata shlokas. The background music enhances the traditional listening experience, with the serene and melodious Veena played by Sreejith P Moosath, a devoted disciple of the esteemed Vidwan Mudikondan Ramesh.
